Adventures of Ivar Episode 3
As Ivar and Grabnar squared up to the Yeti they both began to think they were going to either kill the Yeti or die trying. Ivar and Grabnar darted towards the eight-foot Yeti and tackled it. The Yeti slide across the icy ground but stopped in its tracks as it grabbed Ivar and Grabnar and threw them both like rag dolls. The Yeti screeched as it faced Ivar and began to walk towards him.
Grabnar was the first to his feet and charged the Yeti but the moment he swung the hammer it turned to dust and he fell face first into the dirt. Grabnar twirled around and saw the blue-eyed maiden standing there smiling and waved her arm. He was levitated into the air and flew into the rocky hill behind the blacksmith’s shop and was buried. Ivar got to his feet as he swayed back and forth unable to see straight. Ivar fell to his knees as the Yeti walked over and howled at him as the Yeti’s spit and hot breath covered Ivar, he began to feel more and more weak until he fell to the ground fully unconscious.
A day later Ivar and Grabnar woke up with the Chieftain standing over them and the village mage standing next to him whispering back and forth. Ivar sat up and placed a hand to his forehead as he did, he felt a shooting pain throughout his body. Ivar’s grunt of pain alerted the Chieftain and the mage that Ivar was awake. The Chieftain walked over and placed a hand on Ivar’s shoulder and sat down next to his and Grabnar’s bed side.
“I have some bad news boys; the Yeti has taken many different villagers. One of them happened to be the blacksmith’s daughter along with my own.” The Chieftain looked at Grabnar and sighed heavily. “I failed son, your sister was taken from my own hands, I was no match for that Yeti.”
“Sir you didn’t fail, it was I who have failed. Me and Ivar tried but were simply no match for the witch and the Yeti.”
The chieftain was taken a back as he had no idea about the witch. When Ivar and Grabnar described what they encountered the chieftain along with the mage were curious of why they didn’t know anything about the witch. When Ivar and Grabnar asked if the magic wards were still up and functional. When they went to check the perimeter of the village, they discovered the wards were burned into slag. Grabnar punched the ground and Ivar put the puzzle together as to where everyone was when the Yeti killed the doctor and attacked them.
“Who all did they take? Were any men or boys taken?” Ivar asked as he was beginning to see the plan of the witch.
“No, none of the men or boys were taken, only the women and girls. Why are you asking?” the mage stated.
“And where is the wounded stranger? Did the Yeti kill him as well, or did he vanish?”
Grabnar knew what Ivar was getting at and clenched his fist hard until blood began to drip from it. The mage stated that the stranger vanished when the Yeti attacked the village. Ivar screamed and drew his sword and cut clean through a boulder until his sword snapped half way though. Ivar threw his brown sword down the hill of rocks and screamed again. Silence fell for several minutes as the men stood there not uttering a word barley even breathing.
“This is my fault; I brought the stranger back to the village. That bastard was working with the blue-eyed maiden the whole damn time! I should have left him to freeze to death, that damn warlock or shapeshifter or Yeti under the witch’s thumb I don’t give a damn. I am going to find her and kill her and get those people back.”
Ivar walked past the chieftain and mage and walked towards the blacksmith’s shop with Grabnar walking next to him. Ivar asked the blacksmith to help with their mission and to allow them to have the finest armor and the toughest weapons with wards engraved into them. The blacksmith agreed and said he wouldn’t charge them as long as his daughter was brought back alive. Grabnar and Ivar agreed to give it their all, even if it cost them their lives.
Two days past as the blacksmith worked day and night to make their armor and weapons so they could defeat the Yeti and kill the witch. While the blacksmith worked Ivar and Grabnar trained their fighting skills, and Ivar decided to grab his father’s daggers that were used in the war. Grabnar was gifted his father’s one-handed axes that were used in the legendary magic war. The two warriors were preparing every way they could including Grabnar asking the mage if there was a spell to neutralize the witch’s powers. The mage did have an idea and would work on a potion that could strip her of her powers for five minutes, long enough to kill her.
Soon the day came for them to go searching for the witch. The blacksmith finished the plated armor along with the sword and war hammer for Ivar and Grabnar. The mage created magical pouches when burned creates a fifteen-foot circle of smoke allowing them to escape if needed. The mage also created a potion where when thrown at the witch should neutralize her abilities for five minutes. Ivar and Grabnar took their supplies and moved towards the edge of the village when the mage handed them a magical map.
“This is a map that will lead you to the witch, I have spent the past week trying to discover her whereabouts and I have been scrying ever since you told us about her. This is a magical map and no matter where she goes this map will lead you to her.”
The warriors thanked the mage and set out to face off against the witch. They stared straight down the mountain pass as snow fell around them and their cloaks flowed in the cold breeze. They looked at one another and nodded as they set off on this journey that could end in death.
