Unexpected Year 1 Day 1

Hi, my name is Matthew Benet, but you can call me Mat. I am going into school at the moment, and this is my first day in this new school and first day of eighth grade. Wow, I just saw a really pretty girl, I wonder if I should talk to her. Yeah, why the hell not. (Ps. Don’t tell my mom I said hell.) I walked up to her and tapped her on the shoulder, but I couldn’t say a word. My breath was taken away.

“Hi, my name is Elisabeth.” She said to me while she extended her right hand to shake mine. The girl standing next to Elisabeth eating a chicken leg slapped me with the Chicken leg and said.

“Hey dork get your head in the game and shake her hand.”

“Did you just slap me with Chicken wing?” I asked a little disgusted.

“Nope this is a leg see.” She said slapping me again with it. “You can have it by the way, I don’t want to have nerd on my chicken.”

This girl threw the leg at my face knocking me on the ground. I was stunned as she proceeded to walk on me to get to her locker. Elisabeth grabbed her and pulled her off me and said.

“Sorry about my friend Jen, she has no manners; we are working on that.”

“It’s fine, my name is Matthew but you can call me Mat.” I smiled as she looked so beautiful and innocent.

“I’ll just call you dork or nerd, it’s easier than remembering your name.” Jen said as she slapped me back to the ground and stood on me to unlock her locker.

“Can you please stop being mean to him.” Elisabeth asked, and I just closed my eyes because I was very much use to this type of abuse through my whole life.

Jen finally stepped off of me after the late bell rang, she just looked down at me and shook her head as she had a small smile of accomplishment. Elisabeth helped me up to my feet then we headed to first period which, ironically all three of us had the same teacher.

“You three are late!” The teacher yelled at us; I was really confused at why the teacher was so angry.

“Yeah, yeah, what else is new?” Jen said as she walked past the screaming teacher and took her seat.

“This must be the new student, Matthew Benet. Everyone boo him.” The teacher said as she walked closer to me snarling. Well I couldn’t say I wasn’t terrified by the woman, but what was scarier is that the entire class booed me throwing balled up pieces of paper at me. Elisabeth rolled her eyes as she sat next to Jen and my seat was unfortunately in front of Jen.

“Look the nerd will sit in front of me.” She said as she grabbed my seat and flipped it upside-down.

“Jen!” Elisabeth yelled as I just stood there looking down at the desk.

I decided to just leave instead of staying in the hell cave since it must have been a nightmare. I walked out of the classroom and down the hall to the bathroom where I sat on the counter and wondered why this school was so mean. A few minutes later I heard a girl continuously saying, “My hair, my hair, please stop.”

Next thing I know Elisabeth is walking into the bathroom holding Jen by the hair; once they were both in and Elisabeth locked the door she let go of Jen.

“Apologize!” she screamed but Jen stayed quiet looking away.

“Did I walk into the wrong bathroom?” I asked very confused.

“No diphthong you are in the right one El is just going crazy!” Jen shouted

“Liar, I brought you in here to apologize to Matthew because you were being rude!”

“I would call that more than rude.” I mumbled as I looked at the stall door.

“What!” Jen shouted as she walked closer to me. I cowered down and lowered my head. I don’t know why but this girl really terrified me. Jen then walked to Elisabeth and stared her down until Elisabeth rolled her eyes and stepped aside.

Elisabeth walked over and pulled me to my feet. She smiled at me and whipped off a mark of dirt on my face.

“Sorry about Jennette, she is a good person she can just be kind of brutish.” I rolled my eyes and said.

“Sure, she is a total good person. If that is her being kind of brutish, I would hate to see how she treats her enemies.” I rolled my eyes again and sat down on the sink. Elisabeth walked over to me and asked.

“Why don’t you come over after school today? I have a feeling we will be good friends. Don’t worry about Jen she will come around.”

That was the first time someone had ever invited me to come over, it was also the only time I’ve ever had someone call me a friend. I looked at her and smiled as she began to walk out but she stopped in the door way and looked at me saying.

“The three of us will definitely be good friends.”

That moment I realized she was saying I don’t have a shot with her, but I have no problem with that. For now anyways.
