Adventures of Ivar Episode 2
Ivar and Grabnar lowered their weapons, and asked the woman what was wrong. She looked at both the warriors and smiled softly as her eyes glowed in the suns light.
“I need help; my caravan was overrun by Yeti’s who were led by a large hooded monster.”
Ivar and Grabnar turned around and wondered what to do, as they brainstormed the woman watched them with her eyes glistening as she smiled. Grabnar whipped around and walked towards the lady and grabbed her hands and looked into her eyes. Before he could say a word, Ivar tripped him and slammed Grabnar on his back. Ivar looked at the woman and drew his sword pointing it directly at Grabnar’s throat. Ivar’s eyes were no longer brown but now crimson red. Grabnar pulled his axe and threw it directly at Ivar but before the axe could hit Ivar ducked and swung his sword knocking it out of the way from hitting the blue-eyed maiden.
Ivar and Grabnar charged each other but before they collided their protection charms began to glow and the spell the maiden placed on them faded. They both looked at their charms, Ivar’s pendent around his neck and Grabnar’s Jade ring. Ivar then remembered what his father’s voice said and he rounded on the maiden drawing his sword. The maiden was taken aback by this quick turn of pace but she quickly recovered as she approached them slowly.
“What is wrong? Why are your blades drawn towards me? I need your help.” She said in a calming and soothing tone.
“You are a witch nothing good comes from your kind. They were the leading cause in the last great war that my father died in. Ever since witches and warlocks have been on the run and you dare to use magic on us!” Ivar’s voice grew in volume as he stepped closer with every sentence.
Grabnar climbed to his feet, grabbed his war hammer and looked at the maiden with pure hatred. He stepped towards her and she realized there was no further way to influence them. With a wave of her hand Ivar’s sword froze and shattered and Grabnar’s war axe turned to dust. The maiden scowled at the two warriors and waved her hand again and snow enveloped her in a tornado of wind, then she was gone.
“Was she the thing that was halting the supplies and caused that strangers caravan to be destroyed?” Ivar asked looking at the ground where his sword was now in pieces.
“This is the time for us to strike her. Her magic doesn’t work on us due to the enchantments from our talismans so we must track her down!” Grabnar shouted as he drew his two axes and stepped towards the snow pile on the ground.
Ivar shook his head and pointed to the road and then behind them asking what tracks they would follow. She disappeared using magic and they had no idea how to track magic users. Grabnar’s anger fizzled out as he knew Ivar was right. They turned back and headed back to the village with one goal in mind, find out if the man was lying. When Ivar and Grabnar entered the village everything felt off, it was too quiet and no one was in the street not even the farmers.
“Give me one of your axes Grabnar.” Ivar said as he began to feel like the stranger was in league with the blue-eyed maiden.
Before Grabnar could hand Ivar the axe a Yeti smashed out of the wall from the doctor’s house with the doctor’s head in its hand and blood dripping from its teeth. Ivar looked towards the blacksmiths shop and darted towards it hoping to grab a weapon before the Yeti grabbed him. Grabnar screamed in anger at the Yeti and clanged his axes together.
The Yeti darted towards Ivar but Grabnar was already next to it. He tackled the Yeti and slammed his axes deep into the Yeti’s arm. Ivar got to the blacksmiths shop and grabbed a sword, grabbed another war hammer, and darted back towards Grabnar. The Yeti threw Grabnar off its arm and roared at Grabnar then looked back at Ivar who launched himself towards the Yeti stabbing straight into its gut. The Yeti howled in pain grabbing Ivar by the throat and lifting him off the ground. Grabnar noticed the war hammer on the ground and darted towards it to assist Ivar.
Ivar began to lose consciousness as the Yeti squeezed tighter and tighter snarling at him. A scream came from the Yeti as Ivar slammed the War hammer into its skull. Ivar fell to the ground and gasped for air and then began to scramble for his sword. Ivar was able to reach his sword but the moment he turned to face the Yeti Grabnar’s body slammed into him and they both slid across the ground.
“Got any other bright ideas?” Grabnar asked as his stumbled to his feet grabbing his war hammer.
“No, but maybe a dumb ass idea.”
“My favorite kind.”
Grabnar smiled as he slammed his war hammer to the ground and beat his chest. Ivar cracked his neck and took his shield off his back squaring himself with the Yeti. Both the warriors stood next to each other as they were ready to attack the Yeti in possibly their last fight ever.
