Adventures of Ivar Episode 6
When we last left Ivar and Grabnar they were helping a man who was attacked by a suspected yeti. As the two warriors inspect the man with the mage they decide to go and investigate the area where the man was attacked. As the two men went to discover what happened they felt a strong amount of pressure coming from the trail just like when they fought the witch and the yeti. Ivar drew his sword and gripped his shield tightly, Grabnar pulled his war hammer out while his axes on his waist clinked as he walked. Wondering what would be in front of them Ivar decided to grab a flash stone and throw it forward around the area they saw the wreckage of the supply cart.
As the flash stone exploded Ivar and Grabnar waited for the light to vanish and ran around the corner and raised their weapons. Nothing was there, not a single trace of what happened to this destroyed cart. As they examined it, they noticed a strange green glowing goo. Ivar pulled a stick off a tree and touched the goo but the moment the stick touched the goo it burst into flames. Ivar dropped the stick and wondered what that could be. He reached into his bag and pulled out a small glass flask and managed to get a small amount into it without burning himself or destroying the glass. Ivar stored the flask and turned to look at Grabnar.
Grabnar was probing a small glowing rock with his war hammer and then he knelt down and picked it up. When he looked closer, he saw many different symbols on it and didn’t understand what they meant or what they were so he pocketed it and looked at Ivar. They both froze as they heard a twig snap behind them. They twisted around and raised their weapons but a small wolf was standing there watching them. They lowered their weapons and decided to head back to the village to investigate the man about what truly happened as this was not the work of a yeti but of something else, something worse.
When the two warriors reached the villages mage’s house, they heard a loud roar coming from behind them. When they turned around the door of the mage’s house opened up and slammed into Grabnar’s nose. Grabnar huddled over as his nose began to gush blood, both the warriors looked at the roaring monster and it was what they thought, it was the yeti. Grabnar gripped his hammer and charged the yeti. Ivar turned to look at the mage and saw the man that they brought into the village dead on the table.
“What happened to him?” Ivar asked
“His eyes were glowing blue and began to talk like the witch. I have a feeling she was using him as a dummy and he must have been dead for a while. But apparently she was attacked by some strange black monsters that wrecked the cart full of some type of poison.”
Ivar nodded and looked back at Grabnar as he was in combat with the yeti. Grabnar gripped the yeti and headbutt it, sending the yeti stumbling backwards. The yeti then retaliated by darting at Grabnar and biting his shoulder. Grabnar screamed in pain but took it in stride as he gripped his hammer and slammed it into the yeti’s skull.
Ivar clenched his fist hard until it began to bleed, he had no idea the enemy would attack multiple times; but also, who could attack the witch and scare her off? Ivar turned back to the mage then wondered about something. He took the mage inside and before too long came back out with his blade glowing green. Ivar moved in to join the fight, as he ran in and jumped in the air flying at the yeti tackling him to the ground.
“What are you doing!?” Grabnar roared as he threw his war hammer at the Yeti.
“Giving you assistance as I could tell you were losing.” Ivar spat back as he rose his shield guarding from the yeti’s hit.
“Don’t be ridiculous I was winning against that giant fur ball!” Grabnar shouted and laughed as he charged.
Ivar rolled his eyes and charged in behind Grabnar. Grabnar reached the yeti first slamming both his axes into the Yeti’s shoulders as Ivar jumped up and kicked Grabnar’s axes straight down further into the Yeti allowing Grabnar to slash completely through the Yeti’s arms. The yeti let out a loud and long bellow of pain and then began to glow blue.
Ivar and Grabnar were send backwards from the yeti’s howl. The two warriors watched on as the yeti’s fur turned back into the blue tented fur with black lines down its back. Its arms began to grow back in his new form and the Yeti’s growl almost sounded like it was laughing. The Chieftain came walking over and stood in front of Ivar and Grabnar raising his sword as a red and black aura surrounded him.
“Leave this to me you two.” The chieftain said but before he could move Grabnar and Ivar both jumped in front of him and looked daggers at him.
“This is our battle father, don’t interfere!” Grabnar growled as he slammed his axes together and let out a warrior’s roar at the Yeti.
Grabnar moved first running to the yeti as Ivar stayed back and studied the Yeti for an opening. As Grabnar jumped into the Yeti slamming his axes into the yeti’s sides he smiled but then noticed the axes didn’t go through the Yeti’s skin. The Yeti gripped Grabnar’s arms and lifted him off the ground, at that very moment Ivar slid in underneath Grabnar and thrust his sword at the Yeti’s gut. The blade barley entered the yeti’s skin, so Ivar jumped up kicking the arms of the yeti so him and Grabnar could retreat.
As they both got away, they turned around and watched the yeti who now had Grabnar’s axes. The yeti threw them aside and howled, this time the Yeti made the first move charging the two warriors. Grabnar and Ivar both kicked at each other at the same time in order to force themselves out of the way in time. The Yeti missed but quickly slammed his arms into the ground and swung around heading directly at Grabnar.
Seeing this monster bearing down on him Grabnar reacted quickly and grabbed the Yeti’s hands halting it in its tracks. Grabnar slammed his foot to the yeti’s gut and then flung the yeti behind him, before the Yeti could get onto his feet Ivar jumped down onto the yeti’s chest with his knees and his sword in hand. The Yeti coughed up blood as Ivar’s sword plunged into its chest. Ivar grinned and tried to pull his sword out but couldn’t manage it. The Yeti took advantage of Ivar’s distraction and knocked him off it. As the yeti stood and turned back to face Grabnar who was now holding a long wooden rod as big as a tree log.
Ivar kicked the Yeti’s knee then gripped his fur on his head and tilted his head back. The yeti shouted and Grabnar took the opportunity. He jumped up and jammed the entire rod down the yeti’s throat killing it. Grabnar and Ivar both stumbled backwards and waited for the Yeti to move but it didn’t, it was now, fully dead. Grabnar and Ivar sighed with relief then both fell backwards onto the ground.
